Just The Tip
Joey Seminara, Hatiras [Hi-Bias]

‘Just The Tip’, scientifically, probably refers to the insertion of the tip of a man’s penis into a woman’s vagina, thus heightening her sense of sexual arousal and making intercourse a more pleasurable experience for both partners.
Or it could just mean the “tip of the iceberg”, as the saying goes.
Judging by the wonderfully sleazy tone of Flipside on this killer release, it’s probably the former.
MC Flipside really shows the house industry how “MCing” should be done, shying away from every cliché imaginable and coming up trumps as an artist.
The man in question has clearly been inspired by this filthy, dirty production, and his contribution catapults the result into public consciousness with all the force of a seal clubber.
“I need to be satisfied, because if I don’t feel you on my skin, I think I’ll lose my mind” says Flipside on the original mix by Joey Seminara.
This is a trippy, druggy production to say the least, centered on a thumping, warm kick with off-kilter reverberations in the outer limits of the stereo field and an arpeggiator that stimulates delicate visual patterns in the mind.
“I can feel you all over me!” says Flipside – this guy shows other vocalists in the dance music scene how to throw inhibitions to the wind and do it proper.
Watch out for the Hatiras remix.
This bad boy is completely different from the brilliant original, but just as good in its own way.
We kid you not.
Here, you get Hatiras’ trademark coddled bassline and only the choicest snippets of MC Flipside’s work.
The build up is huge, and Hatiras gets all creative by instilling a welcome, live element via some manually-recorded manipulation of the pitch bend.
We love the way the background synth is climbing the whole way through the record – it’s notoriously hard to make this production trick work, but when someone gets this right the crowd feels constantly hyped.
When this synth disappears and the vocal comes back in, the only word fit to describe what will happen on the dance floor is ... hysteria!
And so, this inspired Hatiras mix shows a producer on top of his game – a master of sonic arrangement.
You’ll be pleased to know that Flipside’s lyrics are available as an acapella on this release.
You also get a house lick by The Custodian and dubs of the original and Hatiras mixes.
Don’t miss out!
