Conforce [Rush Hour]
5 May, 2008 | 8.13AMRush Hour
has been one of the most consistent techno labels of the past few years — and 2008 looks likely to be another strong 12 months for the Dutch outfit.
One of the reasons why Rush Hour is on its game is because it actively recruits new talent, and the mysterious Conforce
is its latest secret weapon.
Indeed, it’s testament to Conforce’s talent that he or she manages to shine, given that there has been a vast amount of Detroit-inspired techno — his or her chosen style — released over the past few months.
‘Junction’ stands tall and proud above nearly all of the other Motor City lovers due to Conforce’s tight production and unfussy arrangements.
The aptly named Peak version features layered, dramatic chords building and building over a shiny, rolling groove, supported by a crashing snare and a clicky, percussive element.
The end result is a sublime and, unusually for such a stylised genre, an instantly recognisable track.
The Dub version features the same chords, but as the title suggests, the groove is more laid back, yet eschews laziness, thanks again, to Conforce’s deft beat programming.
This release is the sound of a label at the height of its powers.
