Josh Gabriel launches new label with ‘Tone Program’

US progressive trance duo Gabriel and Dresden recently split up, and Josh Gabriel is the first of the pair to reveal his new solo sound post break-up, with the track ‘Tone Program’ on his new label Different Pieces.

Clearly Josh Gabriel is serious about his new solo embarkation as ‘Tone Program’ is quite different to Gabriel & Dresden’s signature progressive sound.

Gabriel & Dresden broke up in March

Gone are the euphoric, vocal tinged melodies and trance overtones - instead ‘Tone Program’ is a rough electronic house cut - the kind of chunky floor-filling house groove that James Zabiela might play.

Its lead synth sounds like it came from a computer game, and the beats are heavy loopy techno.

Josh Gabriel has always been the darker of the Gabriel & Dresden pair, and his techno smash ‘Summit’ from last year proved that he had an urge to work alone.

‘Tone Program’ could be the start of a prolific solo career for Mr. Gabriel.

Josh has also roped in tech house champ Style of Eye to remix ‘Tone Program’, and the Swedish producer turned in a groovy minimal track with a very trancey, unique breakdown.

By surrounding himself with established underground talents like Style of Eye, Josh Gabriel and Different Pieces could be one of the success stories of 2008.

‘Tone Program’ is out on Different Pieces on 4th September 2008 on Beatport.
