Fusing speed garage with techno might sound like a recipe for dancefloor disaster, but John Spring has managed to create an entirely new strain of techno with his ‘Ready To Broadcast’ EP on Sub Static. Lead track ‘Lava Lava’ features a wonderfully bouncy garage bassline, that’ll take you back to the days when Scott Gargcia (It’s A London Thing’) and Kristine Blond (’Love Shy’) ruled clubland. 

Tight tech house beats and cool vocal snippets mean the track has found favour with many big DJs including Sven Väth who recently played it during a special set at Cocoon at Amnesia in Ibiza.

Fabric resident DJ Terry Francis has also been charting ‘Lava Lava’.

Let’s hope that the speed garage revival continues, at least in this nu techno vein.
