John Digweed to enthrall Londoners with return of Bedrock

Electronic house DJ John Digweed will enthrall clubbers in London on Thursday 5th April when he plays a rare five-hour set at Heaven club in central London.

The special Bedrock Easter party is an annual treat for Diggers’ hardcore fans, who still complain about the end of Digweed’s monthly club night on his record label’s website.

At its peak, Bedrock was one of the busiest and most talked-about club nights in the world.

“The reason I started Bedrock (the club) was basically to get more gigs for myself”, John Digweed explained.

“I soon learnt the satisfaction in producing your own event and controlling the music by who else played, but basically at the very beginning it was to get me exposure, pure and simple.”

The Bedrock empire began in John’s hometown of Hastings in Sussex, on the South Coast of England back in early ‘90s at a tiny venue called The Crypt.

“Later we went to The Pier, which is where people seem to know of us best.

“It became monthly once we were established,” he said.

When Bedrock moved to Heaven in 1998, the queues were soon stretching around the block, an amazing feat considering it was held on a Thursday.

Over the years Bedrock helped launch the careers of a number of dance artists and DJs including Danny Howells, Chris Fortier, Jimmy Van M, and Guy Gerber.

And the line-up at Bedrock’s party on 5th April also includes a number of up and coming DJs.

Jonathan Lisle and Neil Quigley are sure to be future stars, and the DJ troup of SOS - Demi, Desyn Masiello and Omid 16b – is proving to be one of the most popular threesomes in clubland.

The star of the show of course, is still John Digweed, who will be playing five hours in the main room of Heaven, supported by Jimmy Van M.
