John Digweed ‘Heaven Scent’ interview
John Digweed ‘Heaven Scent’ interview
18 July, 2007 | 8.46AMJohn Digweed’s classic progressive house anthem ‘Heaven Scent’ has been re-released as a mysterious Greg Downey
trance remix this week. Beatportal caught up with John Digweed
to find out more the remix.
There must be an interesting story behind Greg Downey’s remix of ‘Heaven Scent’.
“This started out as a unofficial remix by Greg Downey (listen to it in the player below).
“Paul van Dyk, Tiësto and Armin van Buuren were all playing it and Greg got in touch with me to let me know that there was a massive buzz on it.
“The label started to get lots of requests for Ministry of Sound compilations so we new there was a big buzz on it.”
Why did you decide to release it on Bedrock Records
?
“It is not the sort of mix that we would normally put out and is not in the direction of the label.
“But this mix is reaching a different audience and if we didn’t put it out it would have only ended up being bootlegged anyway.
“Fair play to Greg (pictured right) for building the buzz on this track off his own back.”
We haven’t heard much of Bedrock Records recently – what the hell’s going on?
“To be honest we have taken a bit of a break from releasing tracks. We have got a few things lined up for later on in the year so keep a look out.
Are you working on anything in the studio currently?
“Yes look out for something from the minds of Nick Muir and myself around September time.
“We have done a 25 minute track which will be on a bonus CD on my next Transitions mix CD. Check johndigweed.com for more details.
