dig deep for another glowing collection of rare disco and boogie tunes on ‘Supafunkanova’ – picking up where ‘The Soul Of Disco’, also on Z Records
, previously left off.
Once more this harks back to an era when you could measure the stature of a man by the width of his bellbottoms!
Gritty in parts, polished in others, it’s another dusting down in the basement and religiously watching eBay to accumulate a connoisseur’s choice that between them registers stupidly extortionate on the price scale.
Unless you scour dimly lit basements in second hand record stores, or spend all day looking at rare groove want lists, it’s unlikely that the names Silver Lining, Legacy, Hypertension, Ray Munnings or even BLT will mean anything to you then a tasty sandwich.
I’ve never heard of one of ‘em, and I’d like to hold myself at times as somewhat of a disco connoisseur – so what hope the average man?
Regardless, their music is wonderful, upbeat, sensuous and rich in pedigree.
