Monsters & Silly Songs
Monsters & Silly Songs
Joakim [K7 Records]
17 May, 2007 | 2.04PMThe Frenchman that brought us one of the best crossover hits of 2006 with the bass laden ‘I Wish You Were Gone’ returns with this personal project.
Experimental, sometimes nightmarish interludes reflect the level of confidence Joakim
operates on as he dices with the abstract over the obvious kick ass accessibility of ‘Rocket Pearl’, ‘Lonely Hearts’ and ‘Drumtrax’.
With the exception of ‘Drumtrax‘ and ‘I Wish You Were Gone’ this is an indie guitar driven album, with the classical leanings of a film score – it’s brilliant but don’t go playing the whole thing at the afterparty of a techno rave-up or people might go seriously under.
