The fifth release on Louis Osbourne’s Mija Recordings comes from Jet Project. An Irish duo who hold residencies at Belfast’s most discerning house and techno gatherings the Stiff Kitten and Shine. They have had a tracks licensed to John Digweed’s ‘Transitions’ album, dropped their debut album ‘Heads In The Clouds’ (Darkroom Dubs) last summer to critical acclaim, and have had recent releases on Get Physical, ViVa, Intimacy plus their own Extended Play imprint. Jet Project are now about to deliver one of their finest moments – ‘The Hunt EP’.

With influences covering everything from Basic Channel, Ron Trent, Prince, Adonis, Depeche Mode, Radiohead, Chicago House, DJ Sneak, Metro Area, Andrew Weatherall, traditional African, Latin and World music, Timmy Stewart and John McIver have a truly original and invigorating take on underground dance music. These two mavericks have been involved in Belfast’s ever burgeoning club scene since its acid house beginnings to its post troubles renaissance, and their dedication to the cause shines through in their productions. They are tireless ambassadors of the underground electronic scene.

They deliver two original trax on the EP. ‘The Hunt’ leads the way with gloriously chunky, layered percussion and chants as it steadily builds to explosive intensity. This is a rhythmatic, bass heavy, hip-swinging ride that will hit techno and house floors equally as hard. ‘You Got It’ builds on a similar percussive blueprint to the brilliance of ‘The Hunt’, adding more vocal snippets to the recipe and some warped interludes & stabs to create yet another Jet Project track that will keep the floor heaving.

On the remix tip Mija welcomes UES to the fold. Coming from a small village in Southern Italy, Andrea Grasso, 23, is considered to be a huge talent in the flourishing European minimal house scene. His remix combines percussive grooves, a powerful bass line and a forward thinking arrangement strongly influenced by techno and old school house beats. Now resident in Berlin UES has been signed to Resopal Schallware where he’s released three very impressive EPs. Today his productions are favored and played out by djs like: Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Dj Koze, Marco Carola, Loco Dice, Mathias Kaden, Tobi Neumann, Markus Fix, Lauhaus, Boris Werner, Kabale und Liebe, Onur Ozer et al. He has upcoming EPs and remixes through his home label Resopal and other imprints like Bla Bla, Soweso, Robsoul and District Raw. He is a talent on the rise and has delivered a killer remix!

Finally Mija welcome back Los Angeles based production team and DJ duo, Android Cartel who are on hand to work their remix magic on ‘You Got It’. These leading lights of the new wave underground West Coast techno and house scene are masters at creating dirty warehouse moods big enough for the main room dance floor, and their impeccable grasp of atmosphere & percussive rhythm never fails to impress. This rework is no exception!  They’ve had recent outings on ViVa, Smack, Boz Boz & Further. Android Cartel are set to release the “Robots With Soul” EP as the next offering from Mija in late March 2010, so consider this a taster for their forthcoming EP. Rave on…..
