James Holden’s top Glade Festival tracks

James Holden’s top Glade Festival tracks

We caught up with Border Community head honcho James Holden just after his set at this weekend’s Glade festival, which took place in Aldermaston, UK.

After rocking the crowd with his unique brand of emo-infused techno and lush, shoegazing electronics, Holden agreed to be photographed - but requested we let him disguise his face.

You can find out why after the jump.

You not a fan of the camera then, James?

It’s not that.

It’s actually because my mum is always looking for pics of me on the web, and whenever I speak to her, she says, “Oh, James, you’re always smoking!”

So now I try and hide the evidence of my lifestyle…

How was the gig?

I really enjoyed it. I played at Glade many years ago, and it’s changed a lot since then.

But it was still really good to play.

Which track was the highlight of the set for you?

There were a couple - the first is ‘Centre of Gravity’ by Fairmont.

The second is the forthcoming Ricardo Tobar EP on Border Community.

What else are you looking forward to at Glade?

We’re here with loads of friends, doing the whole camping thing.

I’ll be seeing Autechre - they get away with doing stuff that lesser artists might not be able to, but that’s OK, because they’re Autechre.

Also Ulrich Schnauss - he has this really shoegaze-y type sound, kind of like My Bloody Valentine in electronic form.

He’s gorgeous, the whole performance and the fact that it’s him just makes it great.

Does your mum like him, too? He seems like a good boy...

I’m not sure...I’ll have to ask her!
