Axwell [Axtone Records]
9 July, 2007 | 3.31AM- Section: Music Recommendations
There’s nothing but pure blissful summer moments to be found on Axwell (pictured), Sebastien Ingrosso, and Salem Al fakir’s new single ‘It’s True’. Only happiness seems to flow out of Sweden’s house studios, and this soulful record will make even the most cold-hearted turn into a gooey loved-up mess.
Using the musical talents of fellow countryman Salem Al Fakir was a shrewd move for the DJs.
As one of Sweden’s finest musicians and pop artists (his recent album ‘This Is Who I Am’ went gold), Al Fakir’s piano and vocals add a touch of sincerity and class to Axwell and Ingrosso’s disco beats.
Striking a balance between dancefloors and the pop world is a feat rarely accomplished in dance music, but ‘It’s True’ is an emphatic flag flying high on the crest of dance music’s Everest, a crossover hit indeed.
This might become one of the biggest house records of the year - it’s already stuck in our heads.
