It’s a London Thing

Beatportal seems to have blogs for everything, all it seems to be missing is the blog of eternal stench?

So after a brief cameo appearance the London Blog is under my able stewardship making a comeback.

So where as all these others have prospered I am for those with a fetish for burgers and sadly now defunct game shows, playing Ketchup.

In 2007 the London club scene underwent more facelifts than Sly Stallone.

Perhaps top of the forum debates is that smoking was banned

Yet we also lost the entire Kings Cross Goods Yard, home to London club institutions The Cross, The Key and Canvas (formerly Bagleys) and home to the TDK Cross festival.

Plus on a smaller scale we lost (please please hopefully only temporarily) the cool club night where it’s alright to dance like a loon, Did we mention our Disco, who over the last few years managed to get superstars such as James Murphy,Photobucket 2manyDjs, Tim Sweeney, Glimmers, Justice, Headman and Lindstrom and Prins Thomas to play to 200 boys and girls at Plastic People on what is easily one of London’s best soundsystems.

Fridays in East London just ain’t the same without it!

Finally R.I.P. Trash, London’s original Indie Disco turned genre subverting, music breaking, fashionista and club kid loving, best Monday night in the capital, that bowed out early in 2007 after 10 years of top notch parties!

However we did gain, The Amersham Arms in New Cross that has already welcomed the likes of Optimo and Hot Chip through its south London doors whilst also being the new home to Allez allez, and Walk the Night to name just a couple slotted in amongst other genre busting nights.

Also a host of snide venues have reared their heads around London’s uber cool east end ignoring the smoking ban and giving the V’s to health and safety.

London though also gained a new festival in the form of Field day.

With a line up to sell your dog for the festival in Hackney’s Victoria park went off without a hitch, unless of course you wanted to buy a beer, go to the toilet or listen to music that is.

It was sunny though! Photobucket

Finally then 2007 saw plenty of amazing parties, some of my favourites that deserve a mention were DDD, Mullet Over, NNB, Durrr, Modular weekly, Living in a Disco, Dig your own Rave, Bloggers Delight, Allez Allez, Disco Bloodbath, Milky Disco, Lazer Magnmetic, Girlcore* and The Cosmic Truth!

That’s it for now. phew.
