‘It Sounds Different’ out September 24th

‘It Sounds Different’ is a compilation that features exclusive new unreleased tracks from Vitalic, Kiko, Alexander Kowalski and Junior Jack, as well as recent vinyl singles available for the first time on CD by Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Felix Da Housecat and Lifelike.

‘It Sounds Different’ provides a tantalizing overview of the state of left-of-centre dance music.

Call it rave, call it new rave, call it techno, disco or even electro; what’s perfectly clear is that the artists on ‘It Sounds Different’ have got what it takes to move not just your body but also your heart.

Their music has feeling.

What do Vitalic, Tiga, Agoria, Felix Da Housecat and The Hacker have in common?

They’re all massively successful electronic music-makers who’ve each released a handful of genre-defining records.

What’s more, you’ve most likely danced your face off in their company on more than one occasion, probably at a festival.

Right again (you’re good): these cutting-edge dance artists are all connected to one of Europe’s most forward-thinking electronic labels, Different.

And now Different is set to release its first ever label compilation, ‘It Sounds Different’, and all these stars are on it.

“This is not a compilation to celebrate the history of Different,” says label a&r.

“It’s more of a way for people to hear some brand new tracks from our artists and to hear some previews of upcoming projects on the label.

“What’s the point of putting out just old tracks that people already have?” he asks, adding, “I think anyone who’s into electronic music will love this record.”

The new projects he’s talking about include V Live, the stunning new live album by Vitalic, and the latest LP from Felix Da Housecat, the Chicago house star’s synth-soul odyssey Virgo Blaktro & The Movie Disco.

Vitalic’s contribution to ‘It Sounds Different’ is an exclusive studio version of ‘The 30,000 Feet Club’, his first material since 2005’s ‘OK Cowboy’.

Felix presents ‘Future Calls The Dawn’, a searing wild-pitched monster inspired by Jacques Lu Cont.

Also forthcoming is the new album from French electro-pop playboy Lifelike, whose ‘Discopolis’ anthem with Kris Menace was one of 2005’s glitterball greats.

He gives us ‘Discomachine’.

Then there’s ‘Alone In The Dark’, a romantic taster for the next album by Gallic producer, Kiko.

This track, a sublime goose bump affair, must be one of the comp’s highlights.

‘It Sounds Different’ reacquaints listeners with France’s coolest couple, Miss Kittin & The Hacker, whose irresistible ‘Hometown’ was one of the summer’s happiest moments.

There’s Soulwax too, the only band here, with acid rave-up ‘I Love Techno’.

Canadian rave prince Tiga is also present with ‘You Gonna Want Me’, as reworked by Tocadisco, alongside songs by French techno mavericks Agoria and Alex Gopher.

Most surprising, perhaps, is Belgian star Junior Jack’s ‘Da Hype’, which marries the yearning vocals of The Cure’s Robert Smith to a synth-riff pinched from Bobby Orlando and is then remixed by TGV (aka Tiga) - it’s off the hook.

Four new tracks are included from Vitalic, Kiko, Junior Jack remixed by TGV and Alexander Kowalski!
