Is this the first ever Ukrainian dance music video?

The topic of globalisation always interests us here at Beatportal, as we feel (and often argue) that electronic music is truly music for the globalised world.

Today we were tipped off to a video currently on YouTube, from a Ukranian DJ called Mavr. The tipper claimed that this is the first electronic music video ever from the Ukraine, and because we’ve never seen a dance music video from the country, we’re unable to confirm this.

That said, it’s still interesting to see how DJs in lesser known parts of the world are still able to reach the wider world and connect with like minded fans through the net and the universal appeal of dance music.

This track could have come from anywhere really.

Update: More details have come to light about this video. ‘Spy Space’ is the first video to be made from GIF files in the Ukraine, and it was collaboratively produced by bloggers from various cities.
