Are you using Beatport’s BeatBot?
16 February, 2011 | 12.00AMIn case you weren’t already aware of our music-discovery tool, allow us to remind you about Beatport’s BeatBot, a track recommendation feature that may well change the way you discover music.
BeatBot’s algorithm tracks the way DJs shop for music, pulling together various pieces of data in order to identify tracks that are likely to be related in style, sound, or scene. (Unlike the “Users Also Bought” feature, which identifies tracks that were purchased in conjunction with a particular track, BeatBot delivers a more multi-dimensional view of the music in Beatport’s catalog, chosen according to numerous attributes including artist, label, chart, and purchase data.)
Like any automated solution, BeatBot may not deliver 100% accuracy, but it’s a great tool for checking out artists and labels that may be unfamiliar to you, or even just jogging your memory about artists and labels you’ve been meaning to check out. And like the good robot that it is, it’s getting smarter all the time.
To get started using BeatBot, simply click the arrow to the right of any “Buy” button, and select the bottom link, which reads, “Like this track? Find more with BeatBot”. Head over to Beatport, and give it a try.
Oh, and if you’re feeling the music in the video, that’s Gorge’s ”Xaxax” from 8Bit Records.
