Interview with the South Side Crew
1. What are your names?
Brad Grobler & Rob Janssen aka Bradski & Jenksi.
2. Where you both from?
Brad - South Africa, Johannesburg.
Rob - The Netherlands, Rotterdam.
3. When and how did you first get involved in the music business?
Brad - I first started out when I was 18 playing keyboards in a Live Dance Boy-Band in South Africa. I wrote all the songs, and from there it was a natural progression to Production, and becoming a producer. As time progressed I was inspired by all types of House Music, and then later Melodic Dance, and trance music became my passion.
Rob - That was on High School They needed a DJ on one of those Party’s, and I was already busy with DJ’ing in my bedroom, so I did that crazy job! Was really fun and I get famous with a lot of girls so I continue DJ’ing. And from that moment I was involved in this business and within 2 years I played in many clubs and also became a resident DJ in a famous club in Holland. Now I started my own label and studio’s and am typing this to you hahaha.
4. In what category would you list your music in?
Vocal Trance and high quality Dance Music.
5. What are your most prized accomplishments?
Signing to Zomba/Jive in 2001, writing, forming and releasing Dance Nation. Our first tune “Sunshine” went number 1 on the Dance Charts in 15 countries, and stayed at number 1 for 8 weeks alone in Germany. The second release - Dance!, went on to stay at number 1 for 10 weeks in Germany, keeping all the huge names at the time like Blank and Jones and ATB in the number 2 and 3 position for most of the summer, we liked that.
6. What are looking to do different in the near future?
We plan on traveling more in the near future, and doing more Live DJ Shows and sets, as the last few years has seen us mainly busy in the Studio.
7. Last, What are some goals you would like to achieve with you group South Side Crew?
We would like to get the whole world to dance, and enjoy our music, plus perform Live as often as possible as South Side Crew.
