Eric Hilton from the unparalleled Thievery Corporation outfit discusses the influences for their newest release ‘Radio Retaliation’ in this audio interview for Beat Factor.
With their unique talent for seamlessly weaving in and out of all kinds of styles and genres, it’s little wonder that their last album, 2005’s ‘Cosmic Game’, reached No.1 on Billboard’s Top Electronic Albums chart.

About the album, Eric Hilton had this to say to iLike, who streamed it in its entirety five days prior to its release:
“Apart from a few independent bastions, there is no musical or informational freedom on the U.S. airwaves anymore. They’ve been bought up, consolidated and homogenized.
“Music is suffering and ‘Radio Retaliation’ is about an exodus of conscious people who are willing to acknowledge something is wrong.”
In classic Thievery style, this - their 5th album - includes a whole melting pot of cross-cultural, “outernational” sound: Reggae, dub, Latin, Indian and a touch of jazzy lounge, all combine effortlessly to sum up the Thievery Corporation experience.
Contributors include Anushka Shankar and Femi Kuti, to name a few.
On the back of this release we can soon find Thievery Corporation on an international tour, starting off October 10th for Greece with their 15-member band in tow all the way.
