Polder [Intacto]

Looking for a full length dose of straight-ahead modern dance floor goodness?

Well look no further, because Polder’s first full length album delivers foot-friendly, sharply styled club power in spades.

Holland is teeming with hot techno talent at the minute, with the likes of Shinedoe, 2000 and One, Estroe, and Patrice Baumel perking up alongside more traditional Dutch strongholds such as Delsin and 100% Pure.

This segued effort from Amsterdam duo Polder comes very much from the nu-school sector of the scene, featuring ball-clenchingly tight drum patterns and churning basslines aplenty.

There’s a clear club-friendly focus, as rat-a-tat rhythms and pumped-up drops fire off regularly throughout the set, but that’s not to say there’s no variation involved.

‘Strange Ways’ utilises shimmering chords as a foil for the rhythm section’s relentless bleeps and clips, while ‘Ginger’ pokes its nose into sinister warehouse territories reminiscent of Steve Poindexter’s Chicago acid classic, ‘Computer Madness’.

But for the main part, ‘Poldermodel’ is all about the stripped-down dancefloor workout, and with rock-solid bombs like album closer ‘Bondage’ in their arsenal, that’s no bad thing at all.
