InFiné Summer Residency with Murcof, Mira Calix + more
11 July, 2011 | 3.09AMThe InFiné label has never shied away from techno—one of its cofounders, after all, is Agoria
—but it’s hardly your typical dance-music imprint. Alongside anthems like Agoria’s ”Panta Rei” and brooding house from the likes of John Roberts
and Argy
, the catalog also comprises a wealth of avant-garde electronica and electro-acoustic experiments from cross-genre artists like Francesco Tristano, Rone, and Arandel. So it’s only fitting that InFiné takes a similarly innovative approach to summer festivals.
Held in La Carrière du Normandoux, a former quarry near the town of Poitiers, in west central France, the InFiné Summer Residency is unlike any other summer festival. In the spirit of the classical music world’s culture of workshops, master classes and woodshedding, the Residency brings together the artists and audience in an intimate, rural setting, with nightly outdoor concerts held beneath granite walls on the shore of the lake. As if that weren’t enough, attendees have the option of staying at the adjacent Normandoux castle for just 50€ per person per night; a special group rate, six people for six nights, comes out to a total of 159€ per person.
Held August 16-19, his year’s lineup features Mira Calix
, Sylvain Chauveau, Rone, Murcof
, Fraction + Cubenx, Bachar Mar Khalife, Mimu, and more, promising the opportunity to hear cutting-edge music in a breathtaking, one-of-a-kind location. For more information, see InFiné’s official website.
