IDMA winners

Despite the claim that trance music is dead, 11 of the International Dance Music Awards were picked up by the genre at the WMC.

Among the winners were Paul van Dyk [a] - who won three awards for his records ‘Let Go’ and ‘White Lies’, Armin van Buuren - who won Best European DJ and Best Radio Mix Show DJ, and DJ Tiesto [a] - who picked up awards for Best Global DJ and Best Full Length DJ Mix CD for his ‘In Search of Sunrise Vol. 6’ compilation.

Above & Beyond [a] won Best Underground Dance Track for ‘Home’ and all the hard work from Sander van Doorn paid off when he was named Best Break-Through Solo Artist.

Dutch party organisers ID&T (known for their infamous ‘Sensation’ trance events) won Best Event Promoters and Cream’s home Amnesia won Best Global Club.

So hopefully trance music will be given a break now that its popularity has been recognised by one of the biggest awards show in dance music. Oh, and did we mention that Beatport won Best Dance Music Retailer?
