Long before superstar DJs like Paul Oakenfold, Sasha and DJ Tiësto ever spun one record in Ibiza, DJ Alfredo was playing music in the island’s best clubs.

Alfredo arrived in Ibiza way back in 1976 from Argentina after a friend sent him a letter recommending he relocate to the island in order to escape the military government that had recently taken control.

After spinning records in a friend’s bar in Ibiza, he became resident DJ of Amnesia club in 1984 and remained there for six years before moving on to other superclubs.

The word ‘legend’ is used all-too-often in dance music but make no mistake, Alfredo is every bit the Ibiza legend having been resident DJ at almost every single nightclub on the island.

There is no other DJ in the world that has played as many parties in Ibiza as Alfredo.

We sat down with Alfredo in Ibiza Town yesterday and interviewed him about his DJ career, his thoughts on a changing Ibiza and the current state of the island.
