Ibiza Underground DJ: Nima Gorji’s top 3 tracks
7 August, 2008 | 3.19PMLast night we caught up with Ibiza Underground’s resident DJ, Nima Gorji, to find out about his record label Welt Recordings
and he also revealed his top 3 tunes of the moment.
Welt Recordings features some talented up-and-coming unknown artists from the minimal house and deep house scenes such as Shaun King and Timoe.
Representing a variety of genres, Nima prides himself on the open-mindedness of the label, although he does make a point of avoiding anything remotely commercial.
“Underground music means a lot,” he says. “I think music should be kept real. It would be easy to compromise your sound to make money, but the music should always come first.”
You can hear all of Welt Recordings releases in the player below.
Here are Nima Gorji’s top 3 tracks:
Dyed Soundorom ‘Remote Cocktail’
It’s really catchy, but it’s underground at the same time.
Nima Gorji ‘Ghetto Krump’ [Indigo Raw]
This is a special track for me. It’s inspired by a new movement of street dancing in L.A. called ‘Krumping’, where people can release themselves in a positive way.
Martinez ‘Momomowha’ [Moonharbour Recordings]
It’s a hypnotic track that you can really lose yourself in. It’s about eight minutes long, but it’s only after five that you suddenly realize it’s still the same record.
