They call him Pedro, but nobody knows his real name.

From time to time, you can find him sitting under a sun umbrella on Las Salinas beach in Ibiza, as the sea breeze gently blows his hair which for the most part, remains hidden under his Panama hat.

He doesn’t speak any English, but through the power of his guitar playing and singing he’ll entertain a person of any nationality who’ll join him under his umbrella to share a smoke.

Pedro is part of the fabric of Ibiza, and one of the island’s many locals who leads a hippy lifestyle here.

There’s a whole bohemian side to Ibiza, including many hippy markets and hangouts, and the White Isle has been a mecca for hippies since the Beatniks invaded the island in the 1950s.

It is these people who make Ibiza so interesting because they’ve chosen to shun modernity in order to live freely.

Pedro seems very happy.
