Ibiza Now mag concentrates on local issues
24 January, 2008 | 10.55AM- Section: Music News Topics: Ibiza
If you’re in Ibiza, be sure to check out Ibiza Now magazine, which is produced by the island’s locals for locals.
The magazine concentrates on issues that are important to Ibiza, not just electronic music and the clubs.
In February’s issue they have an account of how Ibiza’s residents recently clubbed together to stop the famous Salinas area [pictured] from being developed into blocks of apartments.
“For the first time in modern Ibiza a broad opposition formed that united all classes of people on the island,” writes Ibiza Now.
“At the forefront of this opposition was the demonstration of October 29th.
“Just a few days later the political fate of the construction plans was sealed forever. This is a look back in time to the first success of the Ibizan environmental movement.”
Salinas is now a UNESCO world heritage site.
