Ibiza fashion 2008: DJs and V.I.P
1 July, 2008 | 12.15AM- Section: Music News Topics: DJ Gossip, Ibiza
Those sneakers are worn by none other than Richie Hawtin himself during a DJ set at Amnesia, complemented by some rather badass-looking skinny jeans, in what looks like a dance music-inspired evolution of the East London indie-kid style.
Want to see what the other DJs in Ibiza are wearing, along with the stragglers inside V.I.P?

Tattoos are an Ibiza essential
All the Spanish locals are kitted out with huge classic-style skin art.
The women probably have more than the men, and don’t pull any punches with massive, sprawling ones inked on their backs and arms.
The V.I.P bargirl with the butterfly on her back is a good example.
Clothes-wise, most of the DJs wear black.

Eric Prydz: man in black
It’s all totally inspired by the East London Hoxton / Old Street look, which is currently becoming a cliché.
But the DJs bust it in such a way that creates something altogether quite unique within the dance music realm.
Eric Prydz, as you can see, went black from head to toe with NY cap, polo shirt, knee-length shorts and sneakers; pretty casual, functional and understated.
The other DJs where Prydz was playing were all wearing black, including Pete Tong.
Pete, surrounded by throngs of hangers on, was clad in a rather expensive-looking sable leather jacket.
He must have been showing off a bit, because it was very hot in the club.
It’s no surprise then that the world’s most famous DJ took off his cow-skin when whipping the crowd up into a frenzy, on the mic and decks, during his set.
Underneath, Tong went for a simple jeans and T style.
For a man with so much cash, it just goes to show that functionality prevails at the end of the day.
After all, DJing in a leather jacket in a club would cause you to cook like a roast chicken.

Magda goes Boho
Magda, as you can see in the picture on the right, also went for black, with a look comprised of ebony dress and sandles.
She was very “Boho”, which is a big part of Ibiza fashion, and something that you can get a feel for in our imminent coverage of the Las Dalias market.
It’s quite stifling in Ibiza clubs, and that’s why open, flowing dresses (like DJ Magda’s) and skimpy clothes are so popular with the girls.
The Polish DJ kept cool in this ensemble with the aid of flowing, icy drinks.

Jeans and T for Mr. Rivera
If you can see in the background, to Magda’s extreme left, there’s a guy wearing a black V-Neck.
The plunging necklines in Ibiza, on women as well as men, are all huge so to stop people from burning up in the heat.
Moving back to the stars, Sandy Rivera was dressed up for Pacha the other day, as you can see on the right.
Sandy proved that, like Pete Tong, a jeans / T-shirt combination never loses its punch as far as DJ fashion goes.

Mix tape man
Andy Piper, who is a resident at the awesome Sa Trinxa bar on Las Salinas beach, had his photo taken for Beatportal the other day.
A “vinyl man”, his appreciation for old school media is plain for all to see with his quirky and cool audio cassette T-shirt on the right.
