Ibiza crisis: Circoloco’s response

Ibiza crisis: Circoloco’s response

Last week, the electronic music community was left reeling from the shocking news that three of Ibiza’s best-loved institutions - DC10, Amnesia and Bora Bora - have been ordered to close by the island’s authorities over drug and security allegations.

Italian party promoter crew Circoloco, who organise DC10’s highly respected underground events on Mondays are one such posse who will be sadly affected by the closure of their Ibiza home.

“At the moment it’s very bad for Ibiza,” Circoloco’s head honcho Andrea Pelino told Beatportal.

“One of the reasons for the clampdown is that a new government came into power in Ibiza at the end of May.

“I cannot imagine that people will come on holiday to Ibiza if DC10 and Amnesia stay closed.”

Andrea Pelino asserted that it is not the responsibility of Circoloco to implement anti-drug and security measures at DC10.

“That isn’t our job - our job is to organise parties and the music.

“The police need to sort out the security not us.

“Every Monday outside DC10 there are like 30 to 40 Guardia Civil who conduct searches.”

Indeed, at the opening party of Circoloco at DC10 on June 3rd the Guardia Civil were out in full force stopping and searching clubbers for drugs - out of any other club on the island, DC10 is seemingly targeted the most by police.

“I don’t know why DC10 is picked on the most,” said Andrea.

“This is the story of the club, maybe it is because we are Circoloco!” he joked (Circoloco means ‘crazy circus’ ).

Clubbers however will be pleased to hear that Andrea is positively upbeat about Circoloco’s future.

“This has not affected Circoloco or DC10 at all - it’s given us even more promotion around the world,” he said.

“You cannot stop something like this, Circoloco will never die.

“Maybe we’ll have to wait one week, one month, or two months, but the spirit of this party will never end.”
