At one point Ibiza was the epitome of cool, but nowadays, there are rumours that this dance music hotspot has had its day.

What is the truth?

I’m going to Ibiza for the first time next week, and luckily for you, I’ll be able to give you a complete virgin’s guide untainted by ecstasy-tinted spectacles.

When ‘The Music Sounds Better With You’ by Stardust came out about a decade ago now, the national press cottoned on to Ibiza and splashed coverage of the island all over its pages.

It was an industry darling, as they say.

But now, even my Dad says things like, “Isn’t Ibiza a bit old hat?”

The truth is, I don’t have a clue, because I’ve never been.

I think it’s a good time to go there and give an unbiased “Virgin’s Guide” for all those who currently sit on the fence like me.
