Humate ‘Love Stimulation’ (PvD’s Love Mix): Dance Anthem
29 October, 2007 | 10.14AMAppearing on Gatecrasher’s influential compilation ‘Red’, Paul van Dyk’s remix of Humate’s ‘Love Stimulation’ is a trance anthem that is held dearly in the hearts of many clubbers.
It defined an era - the Gatecrasher era, when the British superclub in Sheffield ruled clubland with an army of Crasher Kids (or Candy Ravers if you’re American).
The regulars at the club kick started a youth movement that helped popularise trance into the worldwide success that it is today.
Released in 1998 at the peak of the trance explosion, the track helped propel Paul van Dyk
into the upper echelons of the DJ community, a status which has managed to maintain for the last 10 years.
And ‘Love Stimulation’ is the perfect trance record. It’s soaring melodies and powerful pianos invoke my memories of trance’s golden era like no other record.
Those glowsticks, those Crasher tshirts, the dance moves, the atmosphere in the clubs was unbeatable.
We thought we could change the world, and ‘Love Stimulation’ was one of our anthems.
