How Beatport Top 100s work

As many of you know, all of us here at Beatport have been working diligently on the new beta.beatport.com.  In building this new HTML5 platform, we have had a chance to address some frequently requested and internally desired upgrades.  I wanted to tell you all about one of these changes as it is already being reflected in the flash store at beatport.com.

We have separated tracks from releases in our Top 100’s, and with the launch of our HTML5 site comes a brand new chart dedicated to Beatport’s Top 100 Releases. This chart is available in the new site (check it out at beta.beatport.com).

In order to be 100% transparent with how our Top 100’s are calculated, here’s the breakdown:

- Top 100 Tracks on Home and Genre pages are the best-selling tracks individually purchased within the past 7 days.

- Top 100 Releases on Home and Genre pages are the best-selling full releases purchased in their entirety within the past 7 days.

- Top 10 Tracks on artist and label pages are the best-selling tracks individually purchased within the past 12 months.

We hope these adjustments provide an improved experience for all of our users, more transparency in the community about how these charts are calculated and greater opportunity for new artists to break through.
