House and techno veteran Bryan Cox remixes 24 Skorpionz and Chamillionaire
11 November, 2008 | 5.18AMNew York, NY - November 11th - ‘We Some Playerz’ by 24skorpionz featuring Grammy Award winning rapper Chamillionaire with a remix by Bryan Cox is hitting the digital shelves as an exclusive Beatport pre-release today.
These three powerhouses bring the heat with this massive commercial hip-hop / house vocal track. With a full release primed for December 9th, this is set to be one of 2008’s biggest collaborations in the electro house and hip hop realms.
Chamillionaire is the winner of a Grammy Award, an MTV Video Music Award, two BET Hip Hop Awards, and was certified by the RIAA as the biggest selling individual ring tone artists in history (from his myspace page).
The birth of this project started 5 years ago in Texas. Cox’s boys and fellow label artist’s 24skorpionz are well embedded in the Dirty South Hip Hop scene in Dallas. Able to spot a hot talent when they heard one, 24skorpionz commissioned Chamillionaire to come to their studio and drop some personalized vocals. After holding on to the verses and chorus like bars of gold they awaited the right opportunity to debut this treasure. Fast-forward to 2008 and that opportunity was Bryan Cox. They had previously worked with Bryan 3 years prior laying down some nasty vocals for one of Bryan’s many #1 selling Techno tracks “Tell Em I’m Good” feat. Dutch. They also were Crux’s first artist and release with “Futuristic Fly”, going under their Electro House name of the same, Futuristic Fly featuring vocals by 24skorpionz’ Alias Unknown. Rumor has it that a complete Futuristic Fly album with guest vocals by the skorpionz crew and production by Bryan is also in the creation stage.
Bryan Cox’s remix of “We Some Playerz” proves why he is known as one the innovators of the New York Fidget Electro sound by fusing an unlikely combination of Down South Rap with the newest style of dance music in this soon to be classic. Keeping with a radio style format, he brings mainstream Hip Hop to the dance world and vice versa. Chunky beats and syncopated synths chug along to the chorus while the verse pops with a nasty futuristic synth line. “I think this track features a hook as catchy as Chamillionaire’s first hit “Ridin”, it always gets listeners singing along by the end of the first chorus. The most exciting part of this track is that it crosses many genres of what seem like absolute borders for today’s music,” says Bryan.
Bryan Cox and Crux’s version of House has earned him a massive following, In the Electro, Jackin’ Fidget House world, he is actually among a few elite producers taking the sound to another level and combining his massive roots in Techno and Bangin’ House to make a new breed of music. Straight out of New York City and hot on the heels of his critically acclaimed second major retail artist album, Bryan Cox has used his experience from his officially released 100+ tracks to create the sound and label he is doing today. These tracks along with his debut album and himself have been featured in magazines such as Entertainment Weekly, Mixmag, DJ Mag and URB, as well as in mix cd’s by top DJs such as Stanton Warriors, Marco V., DJ Dan, Joey Beltram, One Love, DJ Irene, Ministry of Sound, Donald Glaude, and more. Before producing exclusively for his third label, Crux, Bryan had done work for the industry’s top labels such as Subliminal, Fine Tune, IHR, Eden, Defected, Ministry of Sound and more. His label Crux is a collection of heavy basslines, glitchy vocals, and hip-house culminating in a wonky, worble, cut up style of house and electro soundtrack.
