Hotflush: Bringing the bass in 2008
14 December, 2007 | 11.14AMLondon’s Hotflush Recordings
has been on the forefront of the burgeoning dubstep movement since 2003, putting out releases from some of the scene’s most forward thinking producers and striking a middle ground between the genre’s bass heavy sonics and the experimental aesthetics of IDM.
This year has been a banner year for the imprint, boasting several successful 12” releases from artists like Boxcutter
and Shackleton
and culminating with the release of the excellent ‘Space And Time’ label comp, which features selections culled from the label’s impressive back catalogue of singles (25 platters and counting!) alongside exclusive unreleased tracks.
As the New Year approaches, Hotflush’s release schedule is shaping up well.
A fresh ‘Jazzsteppa’ EP drops in January, featuring Jakin and Two, but the real prize comes along in March: the debut artist full-length LP from Hotflush founder Paul Rose, AKA Scuba.
Titled ‘A Mutual Antipathy’, the LP will feature eleven brand new productions that tow the line between dubstep’s more chilled tempos and techno’s concise focus.
Considering the level of quality Scuba presented with his recent ‘Outmost / Beta’ single, it’s sure to be worth a listen for dubstep fans and curious onlookers alike.
‘A Mutual Antipathy’ drops March 9th, but check out the Hotflush catalog in the Beatport player below.
