Heroes of 2009 Christian Smith & Reset Robot team up for exciting new collaboration

After Fergie [a]‘s massive “Eye Of Storm / Maktub” release, next up on his forward thinking Excentric Muzik [l] label is the first offering from a new collaboration between two men of the moment, Christian Smith [a] & Reset Robot, entitled “Elixir”.

You may recall two Excentric releases ago was a very well received Reset Robot - “Softie” which picked up plays from Laurent Garnier, James Lavelle, Karotte, Nic Fanciulli and Nick Warren amongst many others.  Since then his massive ep on Dubfire’s Sci+Tec dropped, with “Do The Slot”, “Pig Nose” and “Moklai” all going on to storm the sets and charts of the cream of house and techno. Supported by everyone from Richie Hawtin and Eric Prydz to Pete Tong, Dubfire also included “Do The Slot” on his recent “10 Years Of Cocoon” mix cd.

2009 has also been an exciting one for Christian Smith, his “Mistral” release on John Digweed’s Bedrock label produced with long time studio partner John Selway was another hit to add to their long list of past successes ("Springworld", “Total Departure”, “Push Factor” and “Transit Time” to name just 4). This year has also seen his esteemed label Tronic brought back to life after a 2 year hiatus. Past Smith & Selway releases “Move” and “Work It” have been re-mastered and reworked to re-launch the label (Fergie was asked to remix “Work It") and have brought Christian’s house and techno crossover sound to a new generation. Huge remixes coming soon of Sasha - “Xpander” and Trancesetters - “The Search” are set to further fuel the fire.

“Elixir” is a driving monster with one of the catchiest and most addictive hooks of the year, instantly recognisable and is sure to be the highlight of many sets as it has been for Fergie over the summer. On remix duties is Mr Henry Von, who runs Excentric sub-label Rekluse with Fergie. His “Tribal Rage” remix utilises the original hook, adds an interesting array of percussion, then takes the listener on a mind-melting journey full of twists and turns.  Gary Beck [a] (still on a roll after his massive “Consumed” on Minus) also takes hold of the remix reigns and delivers a deep and hypnotic workout that has already been included on Christian Smith’s forthcoming Renaissance compilation he liked it so much.

Carl Cox - “Yet another killer track from christian smith and another corker for this label.”

Nick Warren - “Fantastic track with two stunning remixes, what more could a dj wish for?”

Laurent Garnier - “Yeap ..... strong dancefloor monster again Will play for sure”

Joris Voorn - “The Beck remix will work for me in my stronger sets!”

Karotte - “I like the original and mr. henry von´s remix too. love it. full support.”
