Headed to Ibiza
Headed to Ibiza
6 August, 2007 | 12.43PMSo I’m off for my second trip to Ibiza. My first trip was totally insane and some of the things that happened belong in Industry Boy’s blog. This place is trouble for those with low will power. And honestly, sometimes I fall into that category…
There is lots to see and do on these trips. Besides the insane location and the rock star club nights, there is just something unique about this place. It is a melting pot of debauchery that is designed to entertain those who love electronic music. If you haven’t been, but are a fan, you owe yourself the trip at least once. It is worth it, trust me. There are few places you can go in the world that have as much to offer clubbers. There is just something awesome about being on an island surrounded by some of the best DJ’s and music producers in the business and having them playing the music that will become the hits this fall. Its predictable, and yet still somehow very satisfying.
Now I know to many, I’m losing some cool points because I’m excited to go to Ibiza. Some would liken it to a trip to Vegas or worse. Let me be clear, I’ve done the Berlin underground parties. I’ve even hung at Bar 25 with the tweaked out freaks that seem to live for after, after party. Been to Panarama Bar and Watergate for some epic parties. I’ve done Fabric and Then End to hear proper DJ’s laying down the kinds of sets that DJs love to hear. I’ve even seen Slam play in a tiny little club in France playing to a hundred fans that wouldn’t have wished to be anywhere else. But I have to admit, listening to dope music and watching the sun set from a nice table at Cafe Mambo is hard to beat. On our last trip we went to Pacha for two nights and Privilege for one night. It was all good everywhere we went. People were super nice. Drinks were predictably expensive but the music was always slammin. This time, we’ll head out to a few other venues including watching Josh Wink rock DC10. One night I’m super excited for is the F*ck me I’m Famous party with David Guetta and Pete Tong at Pacha. In the end, for me, its all about the music. The venues are all designed to handle the exuberance of an out of control crowd. If the walls could talk, I’m sure they would tell some amazing stories.
When I get back, I’m sure everything will come back to normal. There will be some war stories to share with the people in the office but really, these are not life changing trips. More importantly, its a time to purge all the stress that is built up in our lives. For me, I’m going to get rid of it all and start fresh.
