Haunted House Of Horror

Haunted House Of Horror

Jacob London and Big Hair [U-Freqs]...

Tucked away in the typically dark and abandoned back catalog on Beatport resides a ‘Haunted House of Horror.’

This is the perfect Halloween record for tech house troublemakers.

It’s a release that captures the true essence of Halloween with a slight touch of funky playfulness.

A secret weapon designed for those who want to do something much more creative than playing Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ for the 10th year in a row.

The Seattle duo known as Jacob London [a] have a reputation for putting an extra dose of bizarre into everything they do, so it’s no surprise to see that they’ve created the Halloween anthem, ‘Escape From Horror House’.

If you’ve been to Disneyland, you will instantly recognize the key vocal in this track.

It’s taken from in the Haunted Mansion attraction, which admittedly terrified me as child.

As if the haunted house sample wasn’t enough, they’ve also included plenty of shrill screams, dark bells and chimes along with a bassline that will raise the dead.

For the other track, London’s Big Hair [a] continue in the madness with ‘If I Were A Psycho Killer’.

Evil music indeed, but keeps it funky with a nice little breakbeat over the horror movie sounds and repeated vocal about being a.. well.. psycho killer.

It’s an unusual combination for a track, but is absolutely essential for any Halloween party worth going to.

Bonus points for anyone who can tell us what movie the ‘psycho killer’ sample was taken from.

It’s amazing to see the calibre of tracks that are hiding in the back catalog of Beatport.

This release (originally released in 2003) was a personal Halloween favorite of mine for many years, and it’s nice to see it can now rise from the grave once again for a new legion of ghouls and goblins.
