Guest reviews: Saeed Younan

Saeed Younan’s new mix album ‘Spotlight’ showcases his record label’s rich and varied output as well as his excellent DJ skills. The 15 track mix compilation only features tunes from Younan Music [l] as Saeed explains. “Everything comes full circle with this album,” says Saeed. “I’m spotlighting me, as a producer and a DJ, and the label for what it is. I’m bringing the two businesses together.

“It gives you a taste of the format you would hear from me if I was doing a four-hour set, from beginning to end in a club.”

The individual tracks Saeed used on ‘Spotlight’ are available to download from Beatport, so Beatportal grabbed Saeed Younan to review each of the tracks [you can listen to all of the tracks in the player below].

Saeed Younan ‘Spotlight’: Guest reviews

1- Ronny Van D. ‘Ping Pong (Saeed Younan Remix)’

“This is one of my favorite remixes of 2007. It’s a deep bass groover with sonic build-ups and drama.”

2- Marcel Castelli ‘Tribalismo Samba Dub (Mijangos remix)’

“A catchy percussive-fueled Latin house bomb. This works great on the terrace of Space in Ibiza.”

3- Saeed Younan ‘It’s time’

“This was my follow up single to the top 10 tribal-house track on Beatport - ‘Keep me up’. This has an old-school flava, and is unreleased and exclusive for this album.”

4- Saeed Younan ‘Keep me up (Mastiksoul remix)’

“A real tribal groover, this was my second collaboration with Mastiksoul. We feel that our sounds really complement each other.”

5- Kermit ‘Earth Parade’

“‘Earth Parade” was No.1 in Beatport’s Top 10 Progressive Chart for over three weeks.”

6- John Creamer & Stephen K ‘The Healing (Saeed Younan D.C Love Dub)’

“This was my first collaboration with John Creamer & Stephan K, and definitely not the last. This track will leave a mark on the dancefloor. Give it a spin, and you’ll see.”

7- Kermit feat. Blanca ‘Burn The Dance Floor’

“Kermit is one of the top producers in Mexico, and you’ll see why with this track - it’s a dark progressive house track with vocals.”

8- Saeed Younan ‘To the Beat’

“This track is huge for DJs like Roger Sanchez, Chus & Ceballos, Danny Tenaglia, and many others. It stayed in Beatport’s Top 10 Download chart for ages and was No.1 for four weeks.”

9- Alex Celler ‘Nightshift’

“This track works great on the big dancefloors. Heavy beats and solid groove with spaced out spoken words.”

10- DJ Moffy ‘The Prime Time (Joy Marquez remix)’

“The name says it all - this is hands-in-the-air peak time beats, no joke!”

11- Tom Sawyer ‘Tonight (RPO remix)’

“This was another Top 10 download on Beatport. A techy groove that will pull you in, and not let go. Give it a listen and you’ll see what I’m talking about.”

12- Saeed Younan ‘Keep me up (original)’

“This is the original. I decided to put both mixes on this album (my original & Mastiksoul remix) because both have something different to offer. Each mix stands on its own.”

13- Mark Pappas & Tom Sawyer ‘Cabaret’

“Mark Pappas and Tom Sawyer have been long-time friends of mine. It’s good to see they’re still pumping out great stuff, like this one ‘Cabaret’. This is unreleased and exclusive for this album.”

14- Ronny Van D. ‘So fine (Massive Drums remix)’

“Ronny Van D is back with ‘So fine’. Massivedrum’s remix is a nice techno number.”

15- DJ Wady ‘Introducing The Sound’

“DJ Wady was the first artist we signed to Younan Music. He is definitely a rising star and has had a faior few Top 10 hits on Beatport. ‘Introducing The Sound’ was the perfect closer for this album, unreleased and exclusive to the mix.”
