Guaranteed fizz: Erol Alkan and Boys Noize ‘Lemonade’
27 April, 2010 | 7.03AM‘Lemonade’ is a cocktail made in indie electro heaven. Berlin’s Boys Noize
teamed up with London indie god Erol Alkan
for a monumental cut that’s as loud as it is explosive. It’s out now on Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound imprint.
With fizzy machine bleeps, outrageous synthesizers, and fist-pumping snares, ‘Lemonade’ has already got the blogosphere foaming at the mouth, with some even reporting that French electro rude boys Justice were behind the track.
It does has a certain va-va-voom about it. The track continues the duo’s successful partnership, which bloomed last summer with the two tracker ‘Waves / Death Suite’.
The video for ‘Lemonade’ (above) continues the pair’s fascination for the dark and high octane, with whirling cogs and machinery producing bubbles and carbonated chaos - a visual embodiment of Erol Alkan and Boys Noize’s studio experiments.
Also worth checking out on the release is ‘Avalanche’, a more melodic and laid back alternative to their brand of rocking electro.
