Grooverider released from Dubai prison?
4 September, 2008 | 7.56AM- Section: Music News Topics: Beatport Blog, DJ Gossip
The word on the internet is that Grooverider, the drum & bass legend who was incarcerated in Dubai earlier in the year following the discovery of a small amount of marijuana and porn in his possession, has been freed.
This is what DJ Hype’s AIM account is saying, as you can see in the lead pic.
All AIM accounts in the pic have been digitally altered to protect their users’ anonymity.
On February 19, 2008, Grooverider was sentenced to four years imprisonment, which means that if he has been released, then less than a quarter of his sentence has been served.
If anyone has any info, please let Beatportal know in the comments section below.

Grooverider: served his time
Many DJs and producers were very concerned about Grooverider’s situation, with nearly 20,000 signatures made for his release here at PetitionOnline.com.
We hope this news is true, so that we can get back to Radio 1 sessions with Fabio and Grooverider as soon as possible.
As far as Wikipedia is concerned, someone has written:
He was pardoned and released on Wednesday 3rd September 2008, the Festival of Eid al-Adha, a religious ceremony that traditionally sees the pardoning of select prisoners in UAE.
