Gridlock
John Digweed [Renaissance]
13 November, 2007 | 4.36PMJohn Digweed’s ‘Transitions’ compilation series has been highly successful for Renaissance, and having recently released the third volume in the series, Digweed decided to give something back to the fans in the form of an extended 25 minute track entitled ‘Gridlock’.
Not one to rest on his laurels, John Digweed
returned to the studio following initial feedback, and as a result, two club centric versions were completed, leading to the release of the track here on Renaissance as a single in its own right.
Digweed & Muir’s Stereo Club Mix was road tested on a recent tour of North America, and much like their previous output, the attention to detail is almost clinical.
Yet they don’t compromise the natural direction of the track — a visceral and twisted journey with a great melodic lead that subtly guides the sound, with the intricate layers climaxing in a delayed and disjointed breakdown that simply builds and builds.
The Stripped Down Mix is a more concise version that drops the break, with the focus placed on the ethereal melodies, simmering beats and intoxicating bassline.
‘Gridlock’ is perhaps Digweed & Muir’s finest track since ‘Heaven Scent’, and is likely to become equally as revered.
