Italian producer His Majesty Andre has dropped a couple of interesting house bangers this year, but the claims that he’s the next big Italian star are a little premature.

His new ‘Great Matters’ EP on Herve’s hot new label Cheaper Thrills however does show a high level of consistency and an exciting and varied approach to house music that suggests a bright future may lay ahead - all four tracks on the EP are certainly accomplished.

The filtered disco of ‘Peep Thong’ sounds not too dissimilar to the music of Cassius circa 1999, whilst the funky slow-burning disco house of ‘Hold On’ shows that His Majesty is more than capable of producing mature and diverse house music.

The EP’s gold cut ‘Music Non Stop’ is a repetitive pumping house track with plenty of loop and FX trickery that will appeal right across the board, and final track ‘NRG 55’ is great mid-tempo funky house number with clever manipulation of samples and loops.

With Herve behind it, you can bet your disco socks it’ll be big.
