Gold Ryan: From Bedroom Bedlam to Cr2
17 April, 2008 | 2.06PM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation
New from Cr2 is their ‘Cr2 Promo 011’ EP featuring the return of Gold Ryan with interestingly titled ‘Clacker’.
Ryan, as you may recall, was the first Bedroom Bedlam competition winner of Pete Tong’s Fast Trax show with ‘Clean Track’.
It was picked up by Cr2 and won praise across the board, as is the newbie with early Radio 1 spins on the Essential Selection and the likes of Nick Warren championing the simple instrumental offering that is minimal stripped down house with a darkly deep underbelly.
It might not be to everyone’s liking, but to their fans (who number many) it will fare well.
It comes backed with Muzzaik’s ‘Carbonate’ – rough, sweaty house at its most minimal and progressive best, and one that will surly figure in sets from more discerning spinners like Lawler, Digweed and even Tenaglia.
Hungarians, Muzzaik (Zsolt Milichovszki and Dániel Dalmady) have their eyes on world domination after picking up the coveted DJ/Producer of Year Award in their home country, and this head swimmingly elaborate slab of electronica shows masterful confidence.
