Global Underground’s Nubreed returns with Jim Rivers

After a seven year break, DJ compilation giant Global Underground will resurrect their Nubreed mix series with British up and comer Jim Rivers having been lassoed for the first installment.

In the past, Global Underground’s Nubreed CDs have helped to break the careers of some rather big DJs including Sander Kleinenberg, Danny Howells, Steve Lawler, Lee Burridge, Anthony Papa and Satoshi Tomiie.

Jim Rivers is however not completely a new name - his first release was on Saw Recordings in 2006, and since then he has been featured on some of progressive house’s biggest labels including Baroque, EQ, Renaissance and Audio Therapy.

That hasn’t affected the enthusiasm of GU’s Andy Horsfield though, who believes Rivers is still far from realising his potential.

“It’s been a long search, but finally I’ve found a DJ worthy of the nubreed series,” he said. “Jim’s DJing, original productions, and remixing make him stand head and shoulders above the current crop of DJs; he’s a true star. Nubreed was instrumental in showcasing to the wider world the careers of now legendary DJs like Sander Kleinenberg, Steve Lawler and Danny Howells and Jim will fit in perfectly with the nubreed pedigree.”

Jim Rivers admitted that he’s a little intimidated by working with Global Underground. “To get this kind of opportunity - and from such a well-respected label – well, it kind of blew me away,” he said. “The previous releases were of such a high standard that I knew I had to deliver. Hopefully, people will enjoy it.”

‘nubreed 7’ is due out 30th March, with a world tour planned too.
