Glade News: Catching Up With DJ Donna Summer

Glade festival, as great as it is, is not the most easily of accessible festivals in the UK.

Planning my journey back from Thatcham UK to Berlin, I was relieved to discover I would have a travel companion for the next ten hours; Cock Rock Disco label owner, DJ Donna Summer [a].

Having just mashed up Glastonbury and tore down the Overkill tent at Glade, Donna Summer, aka Jason Forrest was still reeling from his UK sets.

On our ten-hour journey back that involved various planes, trains and automobiles, I got to find out more about the breakcore legend and some news tid-bits.

First off Cock Rock Disco [l] are about to launch a new sub-label, Nightshifters [a] [l]. This will be a more club-friendly label, with a style that mixes in Baltimore, rave, baile funk, electro, dubstep, house, bassline, drum and bass, and maybe even trance.

Confirmed artists for the label already are AC Slater and Hostage.

I was also informed about a new form of music which he’s been playing now, called ‘Donk’.

Heavily influence by the Blackout Crew’s ‘Put a Donk on It’, the music is a jump up, wobbly, bassline style of music, that if you’ve seen Jason play live, you’ll be very familiar with.

I was also told about a secret remix project that he’s working on, for some rather large acts, but I can’t say anymore.
