Glade News: Catching Up With DJ Donna Summer
26 July, 2008 | 8.54AMGlade festival, as great as it is, is not the most easily of accessible festivals in the UK.
Planning my journey back from Thatcham UK to Berlin, I was relieved to discover I would have a travel companion for the next ten hours; Cock Rock Disco label owner, DJ Donna Summer
.
Having just mashed up Glastonbury and tore down the Overkill tent at Glade, Donna Summer, aka Jason Forrest was still reeling from his UK sets.
On our ten-hour journey back that involved various planes, trains and automobiles, I got to find out more about the breakcore legend and some news tid-bits.
First off Cock Rock Disco
are about to launch a new sub-label, Nightshifters![[a]](http://www.beatportal.com/images/site/misc/wiki_box_a.gif)
. This will be a more club-friendly label, with a style that mixes in Baltimore, rave, baile funk, electro, dubstep, house, bassline, drum and bass, and maybe even trance.
Confirmed artists for the label already are AC Slater and Hostage.
I was also informed about a new form of music which he’s been playing now, called ‘Donk’.
Heavily influence by the Blackout Crew’s ‘Put a Donk on It’, the music is a jump up, wobbly, bassline style of music, that if you’ve seen Jason play live, you’ll be very familiar with.
I was also told about a secret remix project that he’s working on, for some rather large acts, but I can’t say anymore.
