Get your votes in now for Breakspoll 2008
7 January, 2008 | 11.50AMIt’s awards season yet again.
That time of year where people start polling for your favourite records and artists, attending awards ceremonies and making really bad speeches.
First off, it’s Breakspoll, the pinnacle of the breakbeat calendar.
This is the one time of the year when the kings of the breakbeat community descend upon Fabric in London and battle out for the prestigious Best of 2007 awards.
Among the categories are Best DJ, Best Single, Best Label and Best Album.
Previous years’ winners have been Finger Lickin Records
, which claimed the Best Label award for three years running, and Far Too Loud, which claimed last year’s prestigious Best Single award.
In the running for this year’s awards are Plump DJs
, who returned after a hiatus with the colossal ‘System Addict’.
It’s been an amazing year for Funkatech’s Far Too Loud
and Napt, who’ve been dominating the charts with their nu-skool breaks sound.
Best Remixer will no doubt pit The Rogue Element
against the mighty Baobinga and ID.
2007 was also a great year for the likes of Meat Katie
and Elite Force
.
Alex Metric
flexed his production muscles and showed his contemporaries that he was a force to reckoned with, while we saw the return of the mighty Adam Freeland.
You can now cast your votes at www.breakspoll.com.
The awards will be taking place at Fabric on Thursday 28th of February, and Beatportal will be there to cover the whole thing.
Check back weekly on Beatportal to see which breaks artists are contenders for the win.
