Get Physical Tour: M.A.N.D.Y.’s thoughts

Get Physical Tour: M.A.N.D.Y.’s thoughts

Ahead of being embedded on the Get Physical tour bus as it travels around America, I interviewed Patrick Bodmer & Philipp Jung from M.A.N.D.Y. [a] to find out more about what to expect.

The German tech house duo will be touring across America in a tour bus with Canadian-born Heidi [a] and Industry Boy will be accompanying them for a big chunk of their tour (May 3rd - May 10th) which will encompass eight gigs in eight cities.
Check the interview after the jump.

How do you feel about your first major tour of the USA?

We are very happy and scared at the same time.

Doing 15 dates in 20 days is quite hardcore, but it will be a good experience to travel on a bus and have some time to get around the US a bit better.

It’s our sixth or seventh tour through the States so we are looking forward to seeing quite a few of our friends in the various cities.

What will it be like living on a tour bus with Heidi?

I think she is really scared.

We know each other very well but I think she has already had sleepness nights and lots of nightmares of her not being able to sleep because we like to carry on a bit sometimes.

But we have to sleep once in a while too, so I hope she won’t suffer too much.

For sure, it’s gonna be a very intense experience for the three of us.

Is America a territory you’re hoping to become more popular in?

That’s a difficult question.

I think you don’t start music in order to get popular.

If it’s happening one day, it’s fine, but you can’t control this if you just follow your path.

Sometimes people like what you’re doing and sometimes not.

We have received a lot of messages from people throughout the U.S. and we’ve had loads of feedback since we started the tour so that is a very good motivation to come and try to do our best.

What have you prepared musically for the tour?

We want to present of course our label sound and show the people what we did so far and what is there to come. And we want to show a little bit of our musical background.

So it should be a nice mix.

We’re using vinyl, CDs and Serato with some effect units so we’re definitely busy on stage.

What can people expect from attending a M.A.N.D.Y. and Heidi party in the U.S.?

Lots of fun!

We don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Of course the music is great.

And if Heidi, us and the Audiofly guys are touring together it’s going to be a lot of fun and there will be loads of good moments for us and the people.

Which city are you most looking forward to playing in, and why?

Mmm, it’s so hard to say.

We always love to play in cities where we’ve never played before, like Philly.

And since we tour quite a bit, we’ve met a lot of good people all over.

It’s a bit of a shame we don’t have more time to spend in the cities.

And the last few gigs are always special.

Last time it was in NYC with Damian Lazarus.

We ended up in this tiny tiny club downtown.

This year it’s going to be Chicago and I hope we will all go together to have a nice little afterparty and drink a couple of beers. He he, let’s go!
