Get Down
Get Down
Japanese Popstars [Strictly Rhythm]...
28 May, 2008 | 7.19PMThe Japanese Popstars
are killing it.
Heralded by all the hype radio stations and relevant media personalities as the next big thing in electronic music, the Irish trio prove why on ‘Get Down’.
Starting with an outrageous, distorted synthesis experiment, satisfyingly chunky beats start plunging out of your speakers.
The ensuing bass follows the lead melody perfectly, combining to create a lethally simple mix of beats, bass and synth.
Next, rhythmic synthesis shows amateur producers what they need to do to properly instill a good sense of progression into their work.
A few choice, subtle samples later and you have a female vocal that is refreshingly “un-bedroom” in its quality.
It will have electro house producers gritting their teeth in envy that they aren’t blessed with similar resources.
Next comes one of the most delicious buildups that you’ve heard in the last 365 days within the realm of electro house.
It’s basically a sample of a warm Detroit pad, of a vintage quality exhibited by records like ‘Terminator’ by Rufige Kru, for example.
If you want to know what happens next just do yourself a favour and press play on this giant record.
This is The Last Real DJ Alive’s favourite track this month.
