George Morel brings it with ‘Let’s Take Drugs’

To quote Frankie Knuckles: “George Morel is one of the best producers of House Music. I’ve been a big fan and staunch supporter for a long time. I love this man!”

When the Godfather of House Music says that about you, it’s bound to make people take note.

For two decades George Morel has been at the forefront of the US house movement, but unlike many that have sold out to commercialism or believed their own hype, he’s has never strayed far from his original plan.

And it’s that level consistency that has kept him not only at the top of his game, but also made him the DJ’s favourite, one of the genre’s most versatile producers and an icon amongst his peers.

His latest is the politically incorrect ‘Let’s Take Drugs’ on Yoshitoshi – a hard-hitting cry for anarchy vocalized by, of all people, George W. Bush!

Yep it’s a cheeky mash-up of the half-baked Texan’s speeches to make for some wonderful one-liners, and it all happens over an assortment of progressive and tech-etched house foundations created by Cedric Gervais, Matt Tolfrey and Dennis Demens & Patrick M.

After extensive plays by Deep Dish and Erick Morillo, it’s little wonder ‘Let’s Take Drugs’ took Miami by storm at the recent Winter Music Conference.

Expect this to further cement Morel’s statue, although he might be feeling a tug at his collar from the Feds!
