Most things that come out on Ed Banger Records tend to stick to the tired old formula of hitting the kids with noisy electro and disco.

It takes a special character to come out and put all the old ways behind them, to toss the rule book out of the proverbial window and stand up and shout, “I’m not going to take this anymore!”

This special someone is Mr. Oizo.

Mr. Oizo has never been one to adhere to convention - most people remember him as being that French chap behind the cute little animal that nodded his head along to the Levi’s advert.

Yet there is far more to this French wizard, and on his new album this shines through, creating a fine balance of creative experientialism with dancefloor awareness.

The charm and exuberance are all still there, highlighted by one of the stand out tracks, ‘Gay Dentists’ - a modern day, broken beat disco mash-up.

It takes an old disco vocal sample (‘Let’s Start The Dance’ by Hamilton Bohannon for all the geeks out there), sticks it in a blender with some broken up disco and mashed up beats, mixes it all together and produces a gut wrenching, dancefloor friendly house tune, interwoven with slices of disco and funk.

Slightly out of the ordinary, yet very Mr.Oizo, this is step up from previous album ‘Moutache Half A Scissor’ and is bound to bowl over new fans.
