‘Future’ by Dirty Funker returns
24 April, 2008 | 12.55PM- Section: Music News Topics: House Nation
‘Future’, the record that started it all off for Dirty Funker back in 2002, returns once more on Spirit Recordings.
Made with one foot firmly rooted in the past and one in the present, this creation comes from the booty alchemist — who’s always flown pretty close to the sun, having previously added their unique takes on proceedings to previous releases by Nirvana, Adam Ant, David Bowie and even Steve Winwood.
(Their version even appeared on Eric Prydz’s chart topping ‘Call On Me’).
As to the source for ‘Future’, it’s built around the Foremost Poets (aka Johnny Dangerous) 1998 club hit ‘Moonraker’.
The spoken hook extolling the qualities of the universal sequence we call music as DF mixes up a tough rasping dirty beats and a funked up bassline, while additional mixes come from Roman Pushkin, Bombis and JdotP.
