Funkstörung man to release solo album
14 June, 2007 | 2.12AMMichael Fakesch, one half of German duo Funkstorung
, is set to release his solo album ‘Dos’ in July.
The album will be released on K7 Records
and the buzz is already building, no doubt due to the fact that in their day Funkstörung’s studio skills were hugely in-demand – they became famous for their remixes for Björk and the Wu Tang Clan.
“I teamed up with the brilliant soul vocalist Taprikk Sweezee from Zoikmusic so expect something different to my past releases,” said Fakesch.
Snippets of ‘Dos’ can be heard now on MichaelFakesch.com, and indeed it’s very different to the glitchy electronic soundscapes and grimy breaks that Funkstörung are famous for (just check out their ‘The Return To The Acid Planet’ album below).
Indeed ‘Dos’ is unashamedly soulful pop music and Taprikk Sweezee’s vocals border on boy band – except when combined with Fakesch’s pitch perfect electronic beats, the result is dazzling.
Think Prince or Justin Timberlake, remixed by Matthew Herbert. Beatportal looks forward to hearing the whole album.
