Four Tet to headline UK’s Loop festival

Acclaimed electronica wizard Kieran Hebden, AKA Four Tet, will be headlining this year’s Loop Festival, taking place in Brighton, UK on Saturday 16th August.

The event aims to showcase the bleeding-edge of modern music, featuring forward-thinking acts from the furthest fringes of electronica, indie and experimental rock.

Fans of dance music will have plenty to look forward to on the day, with shows from Modular nu-ravers New Young Pony Club, emo-tronic master Caribou, and the unfeasibly talented live act The Bays all appearing on the bill.

Taking its cue from Sonar, Loop was formed in 2007 as a one-day celebration of music and electronic culture.

The first event, which took place in the glorious surroundings of the city’s Old Steine, was a huge success, despite one over-enthusiastic punter launching himself from the top of a wall during Fujiya & Miyagi’s white-hot punk-funk set (he was fortunately OK, if you’re wondering).

Although on a much, much smaller scale than Barcelona’s most famous electronic music festival, Loop nonetheless holds the same ideals at heart, with stages devoted to independent film screenings (including a highly anticipated ‘contribution’ from Warp films that’s currently being kept under wraps), a ‘digital ice-cream van’, and a commitment to putting on some of the most exciting leftfield music around.

Headliner Four Tet has been back in the spotlight recently, with his recent single ‘Ringer’ achieving widespread critical acclaim.

He’s also notably incorporated a distinct techno edge into some of his recent remixes, notably on ‘Deserter’ by Matthew Dear and ‘You are Here’ by the similarly lauded Nathan Fake.

Meanwhile, his recent podcast for Resident Advisor was a wildly eclectic affair, featuring everything form Aril Brikha and Alex Smoke to MJ Cole and Lindstrom.

In short, he’s the ideal headliner for a festival that’s as varied and creative as the city of Brighton itself.
